Three little Darlings

   ’ three little darlings bounce around
awaiting the arrival of Christmas morn’.
Two gather stockings to go on the hearth
each choosing a special one to adorn.

Isabell five, found a favorite pink one,
while Marisah four, selected one in red.
Mother hung this tiny, tiny blue sock too,
while Bradley just looked up overhead.

O’ two little darlings reach into boxes
for saved gifts to be hung on the tree.
On tippy toes, Isabell reaches way up high,
and Marisah fills lower ones with glee.

Images of Rudolf, Frosty and Santa,
all are painted in Isabell’s dreams.
Marisah remembers the candy canes,
and chocolates filled with yummy creams.

O’ one little darling just sits on the floor,
clutching tightly his small favorite toy.
Eyes locked toward lit bulbs and tinsel,
and his older sisters having such joy.

Mother bends over and picks Bradley up,
grinning, “Hey, they finally need me!”
She guides his small hands to hold a star
where they place it on the top of the tree.

O’ three little darlings all lined in a row
looking way up at this special sight.
This Christmas tree’s beauty is given by three,
as they dream of it all through the night.
Mamma’s Family

    kitten sat near baskets of red yarn
next to where mamma would darn,
but pappy got jealous
tossed past the trellis
flew the kitten on its way to the barn.

A puppy sat near mammas stool
at her feet he would grin with a drool,
but pappy got green-eyed
and the puppy go confined
to a new home in the barn so cruel.

A baby bird flew in to be consoled
right to mamma’s loving hold,
but pappy acted scary
and even quite contrary
forcing the bird to the barn’s icy-cold

Inward wandered a lovely red fox
snuggling on mamma’s quilting blocks,
but pappy got flustered
this didn’t cut the mustard
sent him out to the barn of hard knocks.

Pappy stormed out for some wood
grumbling as loud as he could,
mamma sat very unhappy
from the actions of pappy
but finally mamma understood.

Inward returned pappy in a huff
yelled at mamma saying, “This is enough!”
No more animals in the house
She yelled, “What a louse,”
with a broom pappy was out on his duff.

In by the warmth of the fireplace blaze
was mamma handing out lovely buffets
to puppy and kitten
and bird and fox all sit-in’
while pappy now in the barn where he stays.
These are some poems I wrote that are not included in the book.
It's Raining Chocolate, Wahoo!

To my grand kids

t’s raining chocolate, wahoo,
it’s raining chocolate, wahoo,
while snuggled in your bed
lay down your sleepy head,
to taste those chocolaty streams
that run throughout your dreams.

~~~*~~~
Little one close your heavy eyes
get ready for your sleepy surprise
and listen to the sweet invite,
to enjoy this delicious delight.
~~~*~~~

It’s raining chocolate, wahoo,
it’s raining chocolate, wahoo,
with castles carved so sweet
a brilliant scrumptious retreat
all glazed and shining bright
in the purest chocolate of white.

~~~*~~~
Little one close your heavy eyes
get ready for your sleepy surprise
and listen to the sweet invite,
to enjoy this delicious delight.
~~~*~~~

It’s raining chocolate, wahoo,
it’s raining chocolate, wahoo,
flowers grow wild over the hills,
indulge in all your delicious thrills,
of red, blue, and yellow sweet creams
all abound in your magic land of dreams.

~~~*~~~
Little one close your heavy eyes
get ready for your sleepy surprise
and listen to the sweet invite,
to enjoy this delicious delight.
~~~*~~~

It’s raining chocolate, wahoo,
it’s raining chocolate, wahoo,
with rainbows of colored treats,
from the heavens to the streets
for you to seize and even taste
loads of flavors, not one to waste.

~~~*~~~
Little one close your heavy eyes
get ready for your sleepy surprise
and listen to the sweet invite,
to enjoy this delicious delight.
~~~*~~~

It’s raining chocolate, wahoo,
it’s raining chocolate, wahoo,
rest upon your sweet bed,
marshmallow pillows for your head,
underneath your blanket so snug
sweet dreams little one with a hug.

~~~*~~~
Little one close your heavy eyes
get ready for your sleepy surprise
and listen to the sweet invite,
to enjoy this delicious delight.
It’s raining chocolate, wahoo!
It’s raining chocolate, wahoo!
I love to read and sing to my grand kids when I have  a chance. This is something special I wrote for all three of them.
Fear of the Dark
he sun resigns as night invades
against my dreary bedroom wall,
under the covers my head recedes
as ghostly shadows inward crawl.
With night, wind begins to whirl
brushing against my window pane
unearthly sounds impede the calm
all peaceful slumber at once is slain.
Rat-tat-tatting is heard overhead
my rounded eyes must steal a peek,
Yet, beneath my bed slowly moves
a wicked hand toward my silent shriek.
Quivering begins, toes snugly coil
as dark terror silhouette’s my sheet
suppressing my very last breathe
this danger makes way to our meet.
Silence fills this impending doom
no one on earth can help me now.
My fate is sealed as seconds stretch
toward all that only horror will allow.
Such coldness creeps against me hard
as my fabric sanctuary is torn away.
Loss of breathe, my body’s now faint
eyes weld shut evading fear’s display.
Arms clinch tightly around my body .
Within me wells up a breathless scream.
“It’s alright, my love,” mother whispers,
“You were having a bad dream.”
My heart begins to beat once more
mother re-tucks me in for the night,
fear of the dark and all that lurks within
soon fades till tomorrow’s new fright.
Waiting
waiting the decision
of what may become,
all these scattered thoughts
leaves me emotionally numb.
Combined in clever rhyme
and in a unique rhythmic style,
bound for everyone to see
would be so worthwhile.
Patience is what I yearn
to help fulfill my days,
praying to be taken serious
in this most important phase.
